Pieces the scores and parts for all of these are availableĭirectly from the composer. Including choral works, chamber works, art songs and orchestral Due to a busy academic schedule, posts will no longer be daily.Rick Sowash has written more than 200 musical compositions, Days I properly record will not have a practice video or a segment from any take. I will rotate between five solo works, six orchestral excerpts, and one etude every day. This will hopefully let me realize what I actually sound like through a semi-decent phone mic and hopefully gain some confidence in myself. #musicalroadtocollege inspired by #100daysofpractice #365daysofpractice and #10000hours On my path to college recordings and auditions, I'll record myself practicing one of my pieces for about 5-10 minutes, and upload any one segment of it, no matter how good or bad it sounds. (1/2) #musicalroadtocollege Bernstein, Candide Overture. #leonardbernstein #bernstein #overturetocandide #comdengreen #boriskarloff #westsidestory #broadway Also, I’m not familiar with this album so was excited to hear (a) the songs from Candide that I’ve never heard, even though showed me years ago that the Overture is a thrilling 4 and 1/2 minutes-and now I’ve heard the songs the overture quoted, cool (b) Boris Karloff as Captain Hook singing about a plank *nowhere* as well as Thurl Ravenscroft (the guy who performed the Grinch cartoon singing Karloff mistakenly got credit for) (c) a song I had no idea was a Bernstein song: “Why oh why oh why oh/Why did I ever leave Ohio?” Interesting trip. Every time I hear “Somewhere” I’m somehow surprised how moving it is-when the countermelody starts up and then the chords beneath everything shift, it’s startlingly beautiful every time. So last night I brought the Broadway to Indiana. Ultimately (before the quarantine biz got serious) we decided it wasn’t gonna happen. A week or so ago they announced Broadway tickets to certain shows were fifty bucks apiece, before they just plain shut Broadway down.
